NAIDOC Week in Cranbourne

Celebrate NAIDOC 2018 at Cranbourne Botanic Gardens at a special family-friendly event. The event, Koolin-ik ba Kirrip-buluk (Family and Friends), will celebrate the invaluable contribution Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women make in our community. It will feature a smoking ceremony, craft workshops, hip hop dances, a free BBQ lunch, bushfood walks with Boon Wurrung Elder N’arweet Carolyn Briggs and more.

Battle of the bands

Casey’s famous Battle of the Sounds is back in 2018 and this year’s line-up is bigger than ever with Melbourne band, Slowly Slowly, the headliners. This is a fully supervised drug, alcohol and smoke free event. East meets West

Celebrating multiculturalism in the City of Casey, the Casey Philharmonic Orchestra will be led by internationally renowned conductor, Roy Theaker, and joined by acclaimed local soprano, Shu-Cheen Yu. Before migrating to Australia in 1987, Shu-Cheen was one of China’s best folk singers and a principal artist with the Shan-Xi province Beijing Opera Company and China’s prestigious National Oriental Song and Dance Company where she sang for senior government ministers, foreign dignitaries and other distinguished and illustrious figures.

Madame Butterfly

Opera Australia presents Madame Butterfly. One of Australia’s greatest theatrical minds, John Bell, directs this English-language production, complete with beautiful costumes and sets. Hear Opera Australia’s wonderful singers perform with a chamber orchestra, along with a children’s chorus, drawn from local communities, including Berwick’s own Melbourne Youth Chorale.
