Emergency crews were called to the intersection of John Street and Princes Highway Pakenham at 8.10am this morning to reports of a single vehicle rollover.

Cardinia Highway Patrol’s Leading Senior Constable Anthony Templar said the driver of the vehicle, a 51-year-old Pakenham woman, was turning off the Princes Highway into John Street when she swerved to avoid hitting a black cat that had strayed onto the road.

The vehicle collided into the back of a blue Holden Commodore parked legally on the east side of John Street.

As a result the woman’s left front wheel mounted the parked cars rear wheel, causing the car to roll onto the passenger side, blocking Princes Highway and John Street southbound for a period of time.

Constable Templar said the woman didn’t sustain any injuries and was taken to Casey Hospital for observations.

She received an infringement notice for careless driving for the sum of $387 and three demerit points.

Both vehicles had to be towed.
