Police are investigating two aggravated burglaries that took place at McGregor Gardens on Monday 3 September.

The unknown offender is believed to have gained access to the Pakenham nursing home through an unlocked door around 9.30pm.

Upon entry he helped himself to a nearby drinks fridge and went in search of rooms to steal from.

Police believe he stole cash from the wallet of an elderly deaf and blind woman, and a gold watch from the room of another elderly woman.

Both victims were asleep at the time of the burglary.

A staff member noticed the man in the hallway and escorted him out of the premises.

He is described as of European appearance with an olive complexion, and was wearing a light-coloured jacket, cargo pants, and light-coloured casual runner-style shoes with no socks and one black glove on his left hand.

Detective Senior Constable Butler said the movements of the offender on the CCTV footage provided indicates the man was likely drug-affected at the time.

Police are still determining how much money was stolen from the elderly victim.
