The State Government is tipping in $3.5 million towards a sporting precinct in Officer’s Arcadia Estate.

The multi-million investment into the Comley Banks Community Pavilion comes as part of the 2018-19 round of the Growing Suburbs Fund (GSF).

Costing a total of $7.2 million, the pavilion will mark the first step in a master plan for a future active recreation reserve adjacent to Bridgewood Primary School in Officer.

The sports hub will include two multi-use ovals – which will incorporate Australian-rules football, rugby league, and cricket – alongside several bowling greens, a community cricket net and a playground.

The pavilion will house four sets of change rooms, each with support amenities, four umpire change rooms, and two multi-use community spaces.

“We’re proud to be investing heavily in the Comely Banks Community Pavilion through the Growing Suburbs Fund,” Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Daniel Mulino MP said.

A tender to SPORTENG to undertake the design of the 7.6 hectare reserve was awarded by council at their June 18 meeting.
