Pakenham’s Doggy Day Out proved to be a hit for canines great and small, with more than 1500 people flocking to the event.

The event, held behind the Pakenham Library on Sunday 25 November, raised money for headspace Narre Warren’s mental health services.

There was something for everyone with food trucks, market stalls, flyball demonstrations, dog yoga, free show bags, competitions and fundraising activities.

The headspace team also explained the benefits of dog assisted therapy and how it has helped many of their clients.

Headspace volunteer, Christina, told attendees that their dog therapy program has “helped lots and lots of young people and their families to be comfortable during their time at headspace”.

Ryan Willard, who attended the event with his Border Collie, said it was a “great deal of fun.”

“It’s great to have a social event for the dogs to mingle and interact,” he said.

“Especially with my boy, who is hard to keep busy and get enough exercise at the best of times.”

Dachshunds, German shepherds, chihuahuas, pugs and various other breeds could be seen walking around the event sporting orange headspace bandanas.
