A reckless motorcyclist was arrested and charged on Thursday 14 after speeding down an Officer footpath to evade police, narrowly missing children while under the influence of illicit drugs.

The green Kawasaki dirt bike was spotted by police with no number plate on Bridge Road, Officer around 8am on Thursday.

When police attempted to intercept the rider, he crossed the nature strip and sped down a nearby footpath where children were walking to school.

He then turned down a laneway, lost control and dropped the motorcycle and, after a short foot chase, was apprehended by police.

The 34-year-old Pakenham man was arrested and charged with a number of offences, including driving a stolen and unregistered vehicle, unlicenced driving, drug driving, failure to stop when requested by police and for endangering lives.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
