A Nar Nar Goon Bingo participant is starting the week $100,000 richer after picking the lucky numbers on Thursday night.
“Everyone in the room was shocked. They stood up and gave her a round of applause,” Nar Nar Goon Bingo president Gillian Gavin said.
“I don’t think it’s really hit her yet. She just couldn’t believe it. She was in absolute shock.
“I’m so excited for her and for the community because it’s so small.”
In 28 years, the biggest win Nar Nar Goon Bingo has experienced before this was just $10,000.
“It’s not something we ever expected,” Ms Gavin said.
“At this stage, the winner said she was just going to put the money in the bank and then see a financial adviser.”
Nar Nar Goon Bingo sees between 70 and 100 participants each week at the Nar Nar Goon Community Hall.
“I didn’t actually know I’d won at the time,” the winner who wished to remain anonymous, said.
“My husband was gobsmacked and I couldn’t even think straight.
“I love the atmosphere of Bingo, all the donations go to good causes in the community and everyone has been so welcoming ever since I’ve been going.”
