Cardinia Shire Council is in the process of drafting a strategy to review all public toilets in the municipality to provide improved and clean public amenities for the community.

This comes after the new-look Beaconsfield Comfort Station was unveiled, following its two-week refurbishment.

In recent times, the public toilet, located on the south side of the Old Princes Highway, had aged and failed to meet community expectations.

Councillor Brett Owen thanked residents for their patience during the works.

“The Beaconsfield Comfort station was originally opened in 2001. Over time the toilet has aged and in recent times, has not met community expectations,” Cr Owen said.

“The Station has been refurbished to a condition that meets ongoing requirements by residents and visitors.”

The upgrade included replacement of fittings, fixtures, new flooring, wall tiles, lighting and an upgrade to external finishes.”We have been working with shopping centre management to ensure that the toilet amenities adjacent to Woolworths continue to be made available to the public during shopping hours,” Cr Owen said.

“Council is also currently refurbishing the public toilets at Puffing Billy Park in Kilvington Avenue in Emerald.”
