Family home gutted in fire

Fire ripped through a family home in Pakenham after a curtain caught fire on Monday.

It is believed a candle sparked a blaze at the Luca Place house about 2.15pm.

A mother and her primary school aged son were lucky to escape the burning house, unharmed.

CFA crews arrived on scene within minutes, after reports that flames could be seen in the front room of the brick house.

While CFA from Pakenham, Nar Nar Goon and Toomuc extinguished the flames, paramedics assessed the occupants of the home.
