Kooweerup and Pakenham sports clubs are encouraged to apply for funding which can support new teams as well as cover the costs of uniforms, coaching staff and equipment, through VicHealth’s Active Club Grants.

Around $500,000 in new funding was announced to support sports clubs in the electorate of Bass get less active community members playing sport and improve their health.

Funding of up to $3000 or up to $10,000 will be granted to selected clubs.

Bass MP Jordan Crugnale says she wants to see more of the community become involved with sport.

“It’s exciting to see sporting clubs and associations provide more opportunities for people who previously did not get involved with sport,” Ms Crugnale said.

“We want everyone to get active and embrace a healthy lifestyle, regardless of their age, gender or ability.”

Previous grant recipients include Lakeside Sailing Club, Officer City Football Club, and Pakenham Eels Rugby League Club and Touch Association.

“I encourage all our hardworking clubs in the electorate of Bass to take this opportunity to apply for a grant so we can support you to deliver new opportunities to get more people active,” Ms Crugnale added.

VicHealth CEO Dr Sandro Demaio said Active Club Grants have supported hundreds of clubs across the state to get more people in their community moving in new ways.

“Our latest round of Active Club Grants will support more local sport clubs in the Bass electorate which covers Cardinia, Casey and Bass Coast Shires to provide further opportunities for the community to improve their health and wellbeing by becoming more active,” Dr Demaio said.

“We’re putting the call out for a variety of sporting clubs and associations who are offering opportunities for women and girls, as well as a wide variety of people from different backgrounds, who want to be active and live healthy lives.”

Clubs applying for Active Club Grants funding can indicate if they would like to be considered for an additional $2000 grant to promote This Girl Can – Victoria to

encourage women in their local community to get active.

Clubs are encouraged to apply for the funding grants through the VicHealth website before 4pm on 24 February.
