More than $37,100 was distributed to community groups across Bunyip and surrounds at the Bunyip and District Community Enterprises annual general meeting and grant awards night on Wednesday 20 November.

Held in the Bunyip Hall, the night’s purpose was to recognise and celebrate community contributions from throughout the year.

Bunyip Community Bank presented the grants, totalling $37,175, with bank chairman Barry Crees giving a big thanks to the customers.

“You choose to support our small business with your banking, and it is you that allows us to give back to our community, and to our shareholders as without you, none of what we do would be possible,” Mr Crees said.

“Our business is banking but our purpose is community and together we will strive to continue to build onto and feed into our communities’ prosperity rather than feeding off it.”

This year’s grant recipient projects were: Bunyip and District Community Market, Garfield Kindergarten, Bunyip Netball Club, Garfield Primary School, Maryknoll Progress Association, Garfield Community Association, Bunyip Hall Committee, The Country Women’s Association of Victoria and Nar Nar Goon Fire Brigade.
