A portion of the Pakenham line will be closed while “bigger and better” trains are being tested.

Commuters are being warned to allow an extra 40 minutes travel time, as buses replace trains between Dandenong and Pakenham.

From 8pm until the last train on Sunday 8 December until Sunday 15 December, commuters will swap the tracks for the road.

Meanwhile, the Department of Transport has advised that V-Line passengers should expect an additional 60 minutes travel time.

Coaches will replace trains on the Gippsland line from Sunday 8 December until Thursday 12 December, while testing takes place on the metropolitan network.
