A whopping $30,000, which was raised from the Lang Lang Show and Shine, has been donated to the Rotary Bushfire Appeal.

More than 800 cars congregated to Lang Lang for the ninth annual event on Sunday 9 February, making it the biggest event on record.

The event, which is organised and run by the Rotary Club of Kooweerup-Lang Lang, pledged to donate all proceeds from this year’s event to the Rotary Bushfire Appeal.

“Rotary has always been supportive of local needs but with all the horrific bushfires that have gone on, we thought we’d put the local things on hold for a few months,” organiser Keith White said.

“It’s important that this money is directed to the people who need it most.”

Rotary volunteers said it was a “very proud moment” to deposit the cheque to the Lang Lang Bendigo Bank on Monday 24 February.

“We are already discussing next year’s event – a little fine tuning here and there and hopefully we will see the count of involved vehicles near 1000,” Mr White added.

“The swap meet has all the signs of getting bigger and better which may lead to opening up use of additional land at the reserve.”

The 2021 Lang Lang Show and Shine will be held on Sunday 14 February.
