Guys Hills photographer Karen Aslop has gifted an impressive, yet quirky, piece of art to Robert Gordon Pottery in Pakenham.

After collaborating on ideas with the pottery business, Ms Aslop photographed a bunch of elements at their premises.

She then photographed the Highland Bull in Upper Beaconsfield and the cow, thanks to local icon, Aussie Santa at his farm in Kooweerup.

Not having seen the artwork, called ‘Animal Puns’, until the instore unveiling on Friday 28 February, owner Kate Gordon said she “absolutely loves” it.

“All I can say was that everyone at the unveiling, staff and customers, loved the photo, and spent some time working out the nine hidden cow and bull puns,” she said.

“It was a very popular piece of art. Karen has kindly gifted it to us and it will hang proudly in our shop.”

The piece, along with three others, was entered in the Upper Beaconsfield Art Fair at Upper Beaconsfield Festival on Sunday 16 February.

Taking out first place led Ms Aslop to win Animal Photographer of the Year with the Australian Institute of Professional Photography Nationally.

“I have just opened up a new Mobile Art Gallery next to my studio, and am exhibiting fine art prints and canvases of my imaginative, anthropomorphic photographic art work,” she said.

“A selection of prints are available for visitors to ‘name their price’ and choose what they would like to donate, with proceeds from this sale going to my charity work, The Heart Project, which sees families facing challenges, such as sickness and disabilities, freed using the power of photography and Photoshop.

“Families are provided this life changing art work at no cost thanks to the generosity of others through the purchase of artworks.”
