Magpie army, the Collingwood Football Club is set to swoop over Warragul for a free family day.

The club’s visit to the West Gippsland Art Centre on Labour Day will provide the perfect selfie or signature opportunity for fans of all ages, with live music, food trucks and face painting also on offer.

Baw Baw Shire Council mayor Danny Goss said he expected many people to travel out to the region to attend the event.

“It’s very exciting for our community to get the chance to meet and talk with the players – the perfect way for Magpie, and football fans, to finish off their long weekend,” Cr Goss said.

“We expect many people to attend the family day which will provide a boost to local businesses.

“Many of these people will be visitors and we look forward to showcasing all that Baw Baw has to offer.”

Collingwood’s strong community association with the Latrobe Valley will see players visit a number of schools, football clubs and community organisations in the area.

“With both our AFL and AFL Women’s games set to play this Sunday (8 March), the club is pleased to have the opportunity to engage with the region’s locals the following day and continue to develop our relationship with the community,” Collingwood Football Club CEO Mark Anderson said.

The free family day event will run from 12pm to 3pm on Monday 9 March at West Gippsland Arts Centre.
