For Tynong North filmmaker and photographer Brian Hughes, being in front of the camera is a change of pace.

The talented artist specialises in producing documentary, aerial and promotional content through his company Vantage Multimedia, which is based within the Cardinia shire.

“My current focus is on producing high quality promotional photos and films, particularly in the eco-tourism and entertainment industry,” Mr Hughes told the Gazette.

“I really enjoy photography and filmmaking… I love getting lost in the creative pleasures of making beautiful images, for me there’s nothing else like it when everything comes together to create an image.

“I love exploring and being surrounded by animals and nature. It makes me feel alive and whole as a person.”

Mr Hughes originally trained and worked in IT but found he didn’t take much pleasure or meaning from his work, so he re-enrolled in university, where he began studying multimedia.

“This allowed me to take my skills and knowledge of technology and apply it to art and creativity,” he said.

“I am now well qualified having earned a degree in multimedia (with distinction) and several qualifications in business and IT, a unique combination ideally suited to understanding and producing effective commercial multimedia content.

“I spent years honing my craft as a professional image maker and storyteller, producing short films and photographs with skill and care for an exciting range of high profile businesses, organisations and individuals throughout the country.”

His work has allowed him to work alongside some high profile clients, businesses and organisations within the Cardinia and Casey region, including Gumbuya World.

“I regularly work with Gumbuya World to produce their professional promotional photographs and films,” he added.

“I am known for my attention to detail and vibrant, hyper real imagery. All of my work is genuine and represents the real word as I see it… I don’t use Photoshop to manipulate or fake my images in any way.”

Mr Hughes work has featured on free-to-air and pay television, at the cinema, in public exhibitions, on newspaper front pages, billboards and in professional theatre productions.

“I am a big believer that ‘simplicity is the ultimate sophistication’,” he added.

“This quote refers to the approach I like to take with my work and my general philosophy in life.

“I suppose in this instance you could say simplicity denotes beauty, purity and clarity, with a focus of purpose in one’s approach.”
