Pakenham duo charged following shooting

A Pakenham man and woman have been charged following the investigation into a shooting in Casey.

The arrests follow an incident on 31 July last year, where a 41-year-old man attended Casey Hospital with a gunshot wound.

He was treated for a non-life threatening injury to the upper body.

On Wednesday morning, 1 April, Armed Crime Squad detectives, with the assistance of specialist police, carried out the arrests at a house on Lakeside Boulevard.

Officers located and seized a modified firearm during a search of the property.

A 42-year-old Pakenham man was charged with trafficking a drug of dependence, prohibited person possess firearm, possess ammunition and several driving offences.

A 34-year-old Pakenham woman was charged with trafficking commercial quantity of drug of dependence.

Detectives are still working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting, including what the motivation may have been.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said the incident appeared to be targeted, and investigators believe the shooting may have occurred near the intersection of Shrives Road and Pound Road on the night of 30 July.

The investigation remains ongoing.
