A roast chicken takeaway shop in Pakenham is offering a 50 percent discount for all healthcare and emergency service workers, as well as welfare card holders through the coronavirus pandemic.

The chicken chain is offering the generous discount to ease potential financial hardship on families and elderly in possession of senior citizen or healthcare cards.

All emergency service workers, including doctors, nurses, paramedics, firefighters, police, etc. are also eligible for the discount.

Even though the business is down about 50 percent, Reddy Roasts Carvery owner, Hitesh Rana (commonly known as Sam), says he believes in helping people and doing “as much as I can”.

“As the world is facing this covid-19 crisis and a lot of businesses and people are helping communities who need help, we came up with idea to help local community too,” Mr Rana said.

“We wish to help the local community to provide the healthy carvery food on discounted rates so they can keep helping us in the future to sustain the business.

“We can help local people who can’t afford to spend a lot of money to buy takeaway or food from restaurants.”

Staff members at the takeaway shop, located on Kooweerup Road, have been focussing on sanitising surfaces in store and keeping a distance in order to keep the community safe.

The business has kept busy providing pickup, delivery and catering services, as well as good quality food and fresh meat and vegetables.

“We cook twice a day to provide fresh meals so customers love our food,” he said.

“These recipes are 30-years-old and well maintained by the company.”
