A Pakenham resident is furious after thousands of styrofoam beads were left scattered for hundreds of metres along Kennedy Creek.

Claire Kearns was walking on a footpath along the bank of Kennedy Creek behind St Antony Medical Centre carpark on Monday 25 May when she discovered the enormous mess.

“I felt absolutely furious when I saw this mess. It looks like snow,” she said.

However, it’s not known who is responsible for the mess.

“Someone or a business has dumped it,” she added.

The dumped debris has caused her major concerns for the impact it might have on the local environment.

“Fish have recently returned to the creek so it’s been a much healthier environment but now animals will potentially eat those beads.

“I’ve lived in the area all my life and I’ve watched the environment struggle to cope with the influx of houses.

“One last piece of green and animals and some person decided that it didn’t matter.”

The concerned resident is hoping to see the area cleaned up soon by lodging a complaint with Cardinia Shire Council.

Cardinia Shire Council has been contacted for comment.
