Almost 100 km over

A 17-year-old boy has been busted driving at almost 100 kilometres over the speed limit by police.

Cardinia Highway Patrol officers detected the teenage driver travelling at an alleged speed of 170 kilometres in an 80 kilometre zone in Clyde on Thursday night, 13 August.

The leadfoot first caught the attention of police in Botanic Ridge, who attempted to intercept the vehicle on Limeburner Grove.

Victoria Police allege the driver failed to stop, which prompted the Air Wing to be called in to support officers on the ground, who deployed a tyre deflation measure.

According to a statement on Casey Eyewatch, the driver travelled back to Limeburner Grove, where he was eventually arrested at a property.

He is expected to be charged with conduct endangering life and failing to stop and will be required to face a children’s court at a later date.

The driver was also slapped with a $1652 fine for being in breach of the Chief Health Officer’s Stage 4 directions.
