A new study has found graduates from Federation University’s Berwick campus are among the most likely to land full time employment and earn a higher starting salary than other Victorian graduates.

The Good Universities Guide 2020, which was released on 14 August, ranked Federation University as the number one Australian university for first generation student enrolments.

Federation University acting Vice-Chancellor and President Andy Smith said it was “truly wonderful” to see many students be the first in their family to go through university.

“Our national number one ranking in this category confirms that with the right training and support they can succeed and transform their lives,” he said.

The university also recorded a national number one ranking for the quality of postgraduate teaching.

Across the state, Federation University was found to be the number one university in eleven categories, including for student teacher ratios, student support, teacher quality in undergraduate courses and starting salary for graduates, with an average of $63,000.

Professor Smith said the university was also the number one in Victoria for skills development in both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

“Again these incredible results reinforce the level of teaching and support that we continuously provide to our students and the strengths of their pathways as they successfully step into full-time employment and high starting salaries,” he said.

“This signals to our students and their families that a qualification from Federation University can lead to a well-paid, fulfilling career.”
