A popular Berwick shopping complex was evacuated for almost two hours, following an alleged “bomb scare” on Monday 12 October.

Shoppers at Eden Rise Village were forced to evacuate about 7pm and weren’t able to re-enter the centre until about 8.45pm.

“Eden Rise Village was evacuated on Monday evening under the instruction of the authorities who attended the centre, following a reported incident by a retailer,” an Eden Rise Village spokesperson said.

“The centre reopened after it was deemed safe to continue to trade.

“The safety of our customers and tenants remains our number one priority.”
