Officer Sikh Temple (Siri Guru Nanak Darbar) is throwing open its doors to the community in a celebratory and Covid-safe event.

The whole community is invited to an inter-faith networking and dinner event on Saturday 27 March, from 5pm-7.30pm.

The temple will use the event the meet the community after a difficult year, and express gratitude to everyone for their individual contributions.

There will be opportunities to collaborate and network on the night.

After a year of missed occasions, the celebration is dedicated to Neighbourhood Day on Sunday 28 Marcy and Harmony Day, which was Sunday 21 March.

Through music and food – with entertainment from Dya Singh, a pioneer of Australian world music – the event aims to create awareness about Sikh and Indian culture and demonstrate the connection between music and Sikh practice.

Attendees will also be given a tour of the property to view the projects that the temple has been able to complete over the past year, including their organic farm.

Copies of a recipe book compiled by female volunteers at the Gurdwara will also be provided. The book was released to commemorate International Women’s Day on Monday 8 March.

Since being founded in January 2019, the Officer Sikh Temple has held eight open days for the community.

RSVPs are essential. RSVP to info@sgnd.com.au or call 0447 028 688. Visit facebook.com/sgndofficer/ for more information.
