Fatal crash in Modella

The driver, who sadly died in the accident, is yet to be identified.

Another life has sadly been lost on our roads, after a fatal crash occurred in the small town of Modella on Thursday morning.

Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatality, which happened at about 8.40am on Thursday 2 September.

Officers have been told that a car was travelling along Kooweerup-Longwarry Road in the morning when the driver appeared to lose control of their vehicle, leaving the road and crashing into a tree.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle (who is yet to be identified) sadly died at the scene.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson confirmed that paramedics were called to the scene of the accident, but could not provide more details as the accident was currently under investigation by police.

This fatality brings the number of lives lost on Victorian roads this year to 149 according to the Transport Accident Commission, up 3.5 per cent from the same time last year.
