Star reader’s big win

Beatrice Blyth couldn’t believe it when she was told she had won $1000 worth of Woolworths Gift Cards.

The Berwick woman was the winner of the Star/Woolworths Spring Shopping spree competition, which was run for five weeks across all the Star newspapers.

Beatrice said she was excited by her win, saying as a pensioner the prize would make a huge difference to her.

As a regular Woolworths shopper and Star reader, Beatrice is looking forward to shopping up big at her local Woolies.

She is also an active Probus member.

A big thanks to the 4,500 readers who entered our major spring competition.

Protester, not a journalist

Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth Hollingworth has denounced RDA founder and anti-vaxxer Monica Smit as being a journalist.

In Smit’s bail variation application report, Justice Hollingworth said there was no evidence to suggest the Pakenham woman was a journalist.

“Although Ms Smit describes herself on social media as a ’journalist’, that appears to be a label she has given herself to justify her presence at protests,“ Justice Hollingworth said.

“There is no evidence before the court as to her employment status or history, or that she publishes information other than on her website or through social media channels.

“Ms Smit clearly regards herself as some sort of crusader.“
