Drug drivers caught over long weekend

Four drivers in Pakenham have been caught in a single day driving while under the influence of drugs as part of Cardinia Highway Patrol’s Operation Compass, running from 29 October to 2 November.

Police said around 8am on Sunday 31 October, a 24-year-old Pakenham man was involved in a single vehicle collision on Kooweerup Road. He allegedly returned a positive drug test and received a $545 fine and a six-month suspension of his licence.

At 9am, a 30-year-old man, also from Pakenham, was intercepted on Webster Way and processed for drug driving. He received a $545 fine and a six-month suspension of his licence.

Then at 10am, a 31-year-old Pakenham man was also intercepted on Webster Way and processed for drug driving. He also received a $545 fine and a six-month suspension of his licence.

Later at 12pm, a 49-year-old man from Pakenham was intercepted in Main Street.

Police said he was processed for drug driving, as well as driving whilst being disqualified from obtaining a driver licence. His vehicle was impounded for a period of 30 days at a cost of $895. He will face court in due course.
