The picturesque community of Upper Beaconsfield has welcomed a new casual restaurant just ’over the road’, and it’s quickly becoming a local favourite.

The new eatery, aptly named ’Over the Road’, is run by the owners of the Upper Beaconsfield General Store, JD and Steph Davey, and was officially opened to the public on Friday 3 December.

The husband and wife duo, who are locals themselves, said that they were thrilled to open the diner’s doors and welcome people in after months of preparation.

“It’s pretty exciting – we’ve never run a restaurant before,“ JD explained.

“We run the cafe and general store and we saw this and thought, there’s an opportunity to learn as we go, so we went for it.“

JD and Steph said that after hosting a soft launch with their friends, family and staff from the general store, they had managed to streamline a few processes and work out a few kinks so that the diner was “95 per cent“ finished by Friday afternoon.

While the original building remains the same, a nice lick of paint and a few interior touch ups have seen the restaurant transform into a bright and cheery casual diner that oozes American charm.

Burgers, wings and mega-looking milkshakes are just some of the tasty menu items now on offer at the new restaurant, and on their first day of service on Friday, it was clear to see the food and drinks were going down a treat with patrons.

A brand new beer garden on the side has plenty of outdoor seating for the warmer months ahead and JD and Steph said that they couldn’t wait to see the place bustling in the near future.

“We’re pretty excited, we just need the people now!“
