A new cookbook is being launched by Officer Sikh Temple Gurudwara Siri Guru Nanak Darbar (SGND), filled with recipes from across the globe.

Lo Mein Noodles, Spanakopita and shortbread are just a couple recipes featured in the cookbook.

The free Vege Plate Connections recipe book was launched by Multicultural Affairs Minister Jason Wood during an online event to coincide with Australia Day, also India’s Republic Day.

“Quite often when young people move out of home they have no idea what to do and this is passing these skills onto the younger generation….I look forward to catching up and trying some of these recipes firsthand,“ Mr Wood said during the launch event.

The first edition cookbook included recipes solely of Indian cuisine while the latest edition has 21 recipes from 16 countries, contributed by temple members and their families.

Gurdwara spokesperson Harpreet Kandra thanked the contributors of the second edition cookbook.

“The first edition recipe book was massively appreciated by the community, we received a lot of congratulations,“ he said.

“Our second edition focuses on unity and equality which are the principles of Sikhism.“

About 1,200 users downloaded the first edition cookbook.

The second edition cookbook will soon be available to download on the (SGND) website, with a few printed copies also available.
