The United African Farm has found a new home, and the whole community is invited to its launch.

The new community farm will be officially opened on Saturday 12 February on Fowler Road, Cardinia.

It follows a successful similar venture in Longwarry in 2019, which was founded with support from the State Government’s Pick My Project funding initiative and Cardinia Food Movement.

The 2019 United African Farm was driven by Thuch Ajak and Queyea Tuazama, both of whom are involved in the new location in Cardinia.

The United African Farm brings together dozens of members from around ten different African backgrounds to grow local and culturally important crops.

Mr Ajak said the project aims to connect the African community to its roots and culture; many of those in the African community come from agricultural backgrounds, and the United African Farm allows them to stay in touch with the traditions of their homeland.

It also provides learning opportunities in agricultural skills, and a place for youth engagement.

“It’s the opportunity to teach others our culture, a culture of respect and community,” Mr Ajak said.

The launch event is open to the whole community and will feature free food, music and entertainment.

It will be held on Saturday 12 February 10am-1pm, on Fowler Road, Cardinia.
