User groups at Perc Allison Reserve in Beaconsfield have been advised they can no longer train on the grounds due to light poles posing a danger.

The issue was detected as part of Cardinia Shire Council audits on recreation assets across the shire.

“The contractor completing the sports field lighting audit advised council that two light poles at Beaconsfield Recreation Reserve need repair to be considered safe for continued operation,“ council’s general manager liveable communities Lili Rosic said.

“As Beaconsfield Recreation Reserve is on Crown land, the Victorian Government’s Department of Environment, Land, Water, and Planning (DELWP) will be managing the repair.

“DELWP requested council temporarily cordon off the site until the repair works can be scheduled.“

Council has been in contact with all impacted clubs and all club activities have been relocated.

The oval has now been closed.

DELWP will advise council of the next step to rectify the lighting issue and council will provide updates to the clubs as they become available.
