A retro event rocked the Pine Grove Hotel for an afternoon of ‘50s and ‘60s fashion, live music, dancing and delicious food.

The Rockin’ Retro event celebrated days gone by, showcasing the best of the era’s fashion, cars and music.

The Weathered Heads band performed live in the function room throughout the afternoon, and a fashion parade from the Queensland company Miss Flamingo highlighted the retro fashion.

Tables of eight to ten people were seated and served high tea while enjoying the entertainment.

Event organiser Samantha Willison said the afternoon was filled with laughter and excitement.

“We had an almost booked out room and wonderful local organisations donated beautiful prizes worth almost $7000 for our raffle and silent auction prizes,” she said.

The best dressed guest also won a $690 photo shoot.

“We had a best dressed prize so we had men dressed up as Elvis and women dressed in ‘50s and ‘60s fashion,” Ms Willison said.

There was plenty of entertainment to keep everyone happy, she said.

“Team Richards dance company kicked up a storm on the dance floor and everyone was applauding them,” she said.

“Tara from Tara’s Rock and Tap performed line dancing and we had about 10 to 15 women jump up to get involved.

“We also had a wonderful fashion show with about nine models showcasing the fashion and a huge clothing store, as well as Debbie of Black Cherry Clothing and Accessories with children’s Rockabilly clothing.

“Melbourne Old School Cruisers organised all the vintage cars to be on display in the car park.”

It was great to see people of all ages attend the event, Ms Willison said.

All profits from the fundraising event will be used to hold a public celebration for the centennial of the Sacred Heart Church in Gembrook on 13 November.

The event was organised by Sacred Heart Church volunteers on Sunday 10 July in Upper Beaconsfield.
