“Build it, and they will come,” said retiring Parklea Pakenham Show president Geoff Young after 11 years.
“Headlines from past years are now a reality for the Parklea Pakenham Show as it moves forward into another chapter at the PB Ronald Reserve, Pakenham.”
In 2023, on Saturday 18 March, the show society will celebrate 112 years with the theme, ’Animals in Action’.
Retiring president Geoff Young said: “I step aside knowing the Parklea Pakenham Show is now in a position that has extended well beyond one community; we have united and welcomed all local and surrounding communities of all ages, races, religions and cultures.
“We have embraced agricultural, horticultural and multicultural communities under one umbrella offering a free, family fun orientated day.
“With the magnificent support from our sponsors, the Living Learning Centre and Casey Cardinia Libraries, we have inspired everyone to have a go.
“I’m especially pleased with our show society which encourages our youth, as they will and have been the shining light of the future with encouraging mentors who surround and support them with their ideas.
“I congratulate David Young on board with the honour as president and couldn’t be more pleased. David brings a wealth of knowledge of the community to the show society as well, as he has been in the shadows of supporting the society throughout the years. I wish him well and will continue on the committee.
“I thank David Farrelly – local Liberal candidate for Pakenham – as MC of the Annual General Meeting. As well as the wonderful committee who has worked so hard over the last 11 years to make it happen,” said retiring president Geoff Young.
The Parklea Pakenham Horse Show is the next main day on the show society calendar – Sunday, 28 August at Ayr Hill Equestrian Centre, Clyde North. Geoff wished the new committee led by Bec Phillips and Cassandra Parsons Richards all the best in their preparations.
