The Bunyip community is being encouraged to wear purple and pearls on Thursday 22 September to a special high tea event run by the Bunyip Social Club.

Davina Veenstra has organised the high tea for public day of mourning as a simple way to commemorate Her Majesty.

“The social group was quite sad. We’ve had a quite a lot of chats about her,“ Ms Veenstra said.

“I did mention the week before I don’t know how we’ll cope when the Queen goes. Everyone agreed and said it would be a sad sad day.“

The morning tea will involve trivia and discussion points about the royal family.

Also in Bunyip, St Thomas Church service will hold a commemoration service for the Queen on Sunday.
