Pakenham artists are encouraged to get out their paint brushes, chisels or sewing machine to enter into Art Show Pakenham’s special category showcasing the theme of ‘Juxtaposition’.

Entries can be 2D or 3D in any medium, but must feature two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect.

Event coordinator Jillian Ronald said she is excited to see the high calibre of entries this year.

“It will be interesting to see how artists interpret this,” she said.

“To find out come to the Art Show at the Pink Hill Hotel from 18 May until 26 May.”

The 2023 prize winner ‘Words Fail Me – Wolfie’ by Laurel Foenander is the inspiration behind the committee’s selection of the ‘Juxtaposition’ Special Category for this year.

The artwork depicts Wolfie (Laurel’s grandchild) in front of a devastated war scene drawn from the Ukraine invasion by Russia.

All forms of art are welcome at the Art Show including painting, watercolour, drawing, sculpture, textile, mixed media, digital, youth and wearable art.

Entries close on Tuesday 30 April.

Art Show Pakenham will launch with an opening night event at 7pm on Friday 17 May, with major winners announced and a wearable art parade.
