REVIEW – ROUND 10

Upper Beaconsfield remains atop of the District ladder with a commanding victory over Pakenham Upper Toomuc.

The Yabbies won the toss and elected to bat, but it was all downhill from there for Pakenham Upper as the Maroons bowling attack ran riot with the ball.

The Maroons dismissed the Yabbies in the 38th over for just 94.

Daniel Brennan (2/8) and Ethan Hollings (3/18) combined for half the wickets, but they were supported strongly as every Upper Beaconsfield bowler got amongst the wickets.

In reply, the Maroons made light work of the small total, passing the Yabbies before drinks none down.

Brennan struck an unbeaten 37, while his opening partner Imesh Jayasakera crunched 45 of his own in the clinical team display.

Carlisle Park, meanwhile, celebrated a victory over Officer, courtesy of a stirring knock from Ravindu Kodithuwakku.

Officer noodled 9/152 from its 40, a total restricted by the bowling performance of Aaron Straughair who claimed 5/23.

In reply, Kodithuwakku simply did all the work, blasting 109 of the 155 made by the Vikings.

Kodithuwakku was one of two batsmen that made it out of double figures in the chase as his side secured victory with three wickets in hand.

The triple figure knock was Kodithuwakku’s second in four hits.

Clyde suffered another heavy defeat, this time at the hands of Emerald.

The Cougars were sent in bundled out just 30 overs later with only 70 on the board.

Emerald just took 13 overs to get the runs, with seven wickets in hand.

Jake Chapman was terrific with the ball, claiming 4/8 from his seven overs.

REVIEW – ROUND 10

Ladder leaders Kooweerup collected the points over Cardinia in a tight run chase.

The Demons took to the field first and put on a clinical display of bowling, bowling the Bulls out for 115 with an even spread of scalps.

Ayden Mills was the pick of an impressive bowling attack, jagging 3/18 from 6.4 overs.

In reply, the Demons were off to a solid start, at one stage being 1/61, before the Bulls rocked the boat, taking 5/22 to send a rush through the Kooweerup batting line-up.

Ryan Little was impossible to get away, claiming 1/ 4 from five overs including four maidens.

The Demons ultimately got over the line with only three wickets to spare, opener Paul Bright watched the carnage unfold from the non-strikers end as he stood strong for 48 not out.

For Cranbourne Meadows, a chaotic opening spell from Harry Singhe guided the Rebels to victory over Merinda Park on Saturday.

From its 40 overs, the Rebels posted 6/167, a solid total that could have been dangerously higher if one of the five Rebels players who reached double figures went on to make a big score.

And in reply, Singhe went berserk with the new ball, claiming 4/14. The Cougars snuck to 123 in the end, a decent effort after being in all sorts early 6/46.

Tooradin, meanwhile, extended the gap from fourth to fifth with a win over last placed Officer.

Officer performed well with the bat in the first innings, posting 9/182, courtesy of a knock of 83 from Daniel Glen who seems to have an issue with that number with his only two knocks this year being the same score.

In the second innings, the Gulls were flying home before a late order collapse almost secured a surprise victory for the Bullants.

Tooradin were 4/171 before losing 5/12 and making the finish to the match a tense one.

The Gulls secured victory with only one wicket in hand in the 39th over.

Pakenham knocked off competition favourites Lang Lang on Saturday in one of the upsets of the season.

Bradley Senior continued his superb form this year, belting an unbeaten 85 as his side posted 7/191.

In reply, the Swamp Tigers were unable to find a big partnership to win them the game with consistent wickets tumbling whenever it looked to be an opportunity for a counter attack.

Senior stole the show again late when he cleaned up the tale, claiming 2/11 in the brilliant victory.
