DIVISION 2

ROUND 2

The undermanned Hampton Park side has secured another fantastic win on the weekend, this time over Caulfield Bears.

Every win early in the season for the Redbacks almost acts as a two-way swing as the senior outfit waits for a flurry of players to return.

Despite not hitting the scoreboard in the opening term, and trailing at the main break, Hampton Park piled on eight of the last 12 majors to come away 12.13 (85) to 11.8 (74) winners.

Peter Dye snagged a handful, while Aaron Holden notched his first best-on-ground performance for the year.

Hampton Park (fourth) faces fellow finals contender Chelsea Heights (fifth) in the upcoming fixture, a handy eight-point swing if the Redbacks are to secure the four points.

Springvale Districts, meanwhile, have skipped to three wins and remain undefeated in the Southern Football League after its 11.9 (75) to 5.6 (36) win over Chelsea Heights.

It was hard to fault the performance from Matt Wetering, as the Demons slammed home seven goals to two in the second half.

Wetering booted five in a best afield display; Darren Sheen also put through three – the pair are looming as a defenders nightmare in the early stages of the season.

An Anzac Eve clash under lights against Skye at Carrum Downs awaits the undefeated Demons side this week, a true test against a fellow contender.

A 12.14 (86) to 4.9 (33) win over Murrumbeena has squared the ledger to one and one for Keysborough.

The Burras were wasteful in front of goal in the opening half, booting 2.10, but a second half blitz from Matt Carnelley and Tim Werner saw the travelling side storm home with its first win of the year.

DIVISION 3

ROUND 2

Narre South Saints recorded another superb win on the weekend, defeating South Yarra 17.13 (115) to 2.15 (27).

The Saints almost mirrored the opening half and the second half, booting nine goals to one in the first, and eight goals to one in the second.

Danny Brewster slotted four in a best-on-ground performance, but it was the team spread that looks the Saints most prominent weapon this year, as the side had eight individual goal scorers for the afternoon.

Endeavour Hills, meanwhile, continued its undefeated streak in its 17. 15 (117) to 9.13 (67) win over South Mornington.

The Falcons also had a flurry of goal kickers, with nine players putting their name on the scoresheet.

Jarrod Marolla was among the best with his four goals.

Doveton Eagles had another difficult weekend out, coming up against the classy Clayton outfit.

The Eagles kicked two of its three goals in the opening term, but conceded 7.4 at the other end.

A nine goal final term from the visiting side added salt into the wound for Doveton, as the Eagles went down 3.0 (18) to 23.19 (157).

The tough fixture continues for the Eagles, with the second placed Black Rock this weekend.

DIVISION 4

ROUND 2

Lyndhurst remain undefeated and a team to watch with a commanding 22.15 (147) to 1.4 (10) win over Moorabbin Kangaroos.

The Kangaroos booted its solitary major in the opening term and could only manage three minor scores after the first break.

Charlie Gardiner (six goals) and Hamish Browning (five goals) combined for 11 majors across the day, while Tyson Sparkes kicked three and was judged best afield.

Wayward goal kicking prevented Hallam from being closer in its contest against Carrum Patterson Lakes.

The home side kicked just five behinds in the opening term to the Lions 2.4, and the trend continued throughout the day, ultimately proving costly in the Hawks 4.10 (34) to 12.13 (85) defeat.

Despite having less scoring shots in the end, opening term scoreboard pressure very well could have changed the outcome of the day.

Dandenong, meanwhile, had a tough day at the office when it travelled to take on Cerberus.

The Redlegs went down 3.3 (21) to 27.12 (174).

Luke Dinger was among the best for Dandenong, while Cerberus had goal kickers lining up from everywhere.

Austin Richardson (six goals), Jayden Fridd (six goals) and Jamison Lynn (five goals) all bagged out, combining for a whopping 17 goals between them.

ROUND 3

Pearcedale snapped its long-standing losing streak with a terrific upset win over fellow navy and white side, Chelsea.

Not only did it pull through with the four points in front of its home crowd, the Dales had its backs against the wall at half time, trailing by two goals and starring down the barrel of yet another defeat.

But the Dales rallied through in the second half and finished 10.12 (72) to 8.8 (56) winners.

Pearcedale booted five goals to three in the final term to pull away with its first win of the year.

The Dales face a mammoth challenge in the upcoming week, taking on the undefeated ladder leaders in Rye on its home deck on Saturday.

Devon Meadows, meanwhile, leaped into the top five with a strong win over Crib Point.

The Panthers trailed at the main break, but came home with a wet sail, booting seven goals to three after half time to come away 10.16 (76) to 7.10 (52) winners.

Doveton 2019 premiership super star Lachie Batten had his best game for his new side, slotting three goals and being among the best.

Frankston VFL academy prospect Tom Panich was among the best for the Magpies, playing higher up the ground then he is usually accustomed to.

The Panthers host Mornington on the Anzac Day stand-alone match next Sunday.

The Dees lead at every change on its way to the 9.6 (60) to 7.5 (47) victory.

Milford slotted six, collected 16 disposals and also laid nine tackles in a best afield display.

Eliza West also had a great day out for the Demons, gathering 28 disposals and a solitary major. The day out is now the third time West has come away with 20 plus disposals and a goal this season.

The home side led at every change and came away with a 13.8 (86) to 8.9 (57) win.

Tom Hobbs was in the best for the Gulls, while Tim Hancock notched another dominant performance for the now one win, one loss Drouin side.
