DEEP CREEK GOLF CLUB

Pins were tucked away and a steady breeze kept golfers on their toes at Deep Creek Golf Club on Saturday as the second Monthly Medal in two weeks went up for grabs – this time the December version.

Last week it was Glenn Rees who took home a delayed edition of the November Monthly Medal – and he almost made it back-to-back wins on the weekend.

It took a great round of golf from David Mair (11) – who finished with a nett 67 – to knock Rees from his perch, winning via a countback after both players played five-under par to their handicaps.

Mair won the A Grade competition by five shots from Peter Norman (9) – nett 72 – while Rees’s 67 were good enough for a one-shot victory over Scott Irwin (15) in B Grade.

Wayne Lamers (25) signed off on a nett 68 to win C Grade, two shots clear of Alex Green (30) with a nett 70.

Balls down the line went to Matt Boon, Neil Atchison and Lyriq Bester 71, Marcus Cameron and Shane Franzi 72, and to David Leek, Rob McCrae, Brian Webster and Andrew Heagney with nett 73.

Nearest the Pins went to Scott Irwin 2nd (0.91m) and Michael Banger 16th (1.60m).

Saturday also saw the completion of the 2021 Eclectic.

Winners were: A Grade: Gross: Harry Elyasie 68 C/B. Nett: David Mair 62.5.

B Grade: Gross: Scott Irwin 69. Nett: Neil Atchison 61.

C Grade: Gross: Anthony Kemsley 74. Nett: Ross Stewart 65.

Down the lines went to Barry Williams, Harry Elyasie and John Curtin 71, Stewart MacDonald, David McMahaon, Ron Parsons and William Carmichael 72, and to Graham Brennan, Murray O’Dwyer and Doug Barrot with nett 73’s.

The Supercomp Front 9 was won by Brett McGee (28) – 32 nett – while nearest the pins went to Doug Barrot 2nd (0.60m) and Bob Naismith 16th (3.61m).
