Preview

It’s quite remarkable to think that Pakenham and Lang Lang will meet for the first time this season when the Lions and Swamp Tigers battle it out in the WGCA F Grade preliminary final at Toomuc Reserve on Saturday.

These two were due to collide in round five, but the Lions pulled out due to Covid, while exactly the same thing happened, but in reverse, when the Swampies pulled out of their round-eight contest at Toomuc.

These two really don’t know too much about each other at all.

Maybe we can help!

Memo to the Swampies; Pakenham bats deep and can really do some damage with the willow. Mitchell Kezik, Craig Hart, Rob Newell, Adam Roseby and Paul Hart have all made over 200 runs this season, and know the areas to focus on inside the athletics track at Toomuc.

And Deepak Gusain, Les Jones, Gary Sewell and Corey Davis know how to resolutely defend those same boundaries.

Memo to Pakenham; Dave Fisher-White is the absolute key to unlocking the Swamp Tigers this weekend.

He only started playing after Christmas and has racked up 284 runs, at an average of 71, with one century (100 not out) and two half-centuries (76 and 68) the best of his five hits since Santa slid down the chimney.

Ryan Denmead is a dangerman with the ball, while Tangata Dean and the Halden clan are others to keep an eye on.

But the Lions will be too strong, they’ll roar into the grand final with a very comfortable win.
