This season might be null and void for Catani with the boys in blue struggling after a mass exodus of players and core staff.

Lang Lang disposed of Catani by 120 points on Saturday night, restricted the Blues to a meagre two goals.

The Tigers pilled on 19 goals in a demolition performance.

The dominance of the Lang Lang midfield left Catani in its wake.

Midfield veteran Nathaniel Rodda and young star Riley McDonald were the only shinning lights on a very dull day for the Blues.

Nilma Darnum didn’t fare any better when they went up against Yarragon at home.

The Bombers are also going into the season under-strength losing six of their best from last season.

Declan O’Donnell kicked three for Yarragon as his side didn’t let up, kicking 14.17 in an 87-point drubbing of Nilma.

Poowong fans would be happy with the resilience as they pushed a very experience Ellinbank side.

Ryan Atherton showed why he deserves to play seniors kicking one goal.

Atherton has made his way into the side as an 18-year-old, working his way to the top at the Eagles’ nest.

Poowong would be happy to welcome back Jayden Sullivan into the side, after he missed last year due to an injury way-back in round 1.

Ellinbank held on to win by nine points.

Buln Buln would be kicking themselves after kicking 11 straight behinds in two quarters of football.

The Lyrebirds kicking 3.15(33) allowing Neerim to win by 15 points.

Josh White kicked two goals for the Cats in a low-scoring affair at home.

Longwarry pulled off a 65-point hammering of Nyora, with Braydon McHugh kicking a staggering eight goals for the Crows.

Travis Stewart also made his welcomed return to Nyora kicking two goals.

Jedd Serong also made the Saints pay kicking four goals of his own.
