SWGMW BOWLS
The South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group met for its weekly challenge – this time at Lang Lang – with a great turnout of 41 bowlers taking on their friends for the title of Team of the Week.
It was a lovely day for a very enjoyable day of bowls.
As usual there was lots of excellent bowling as well as a few wayward shots, but a great day was had by one and all.
It was great to see so many ‘new’ players take to the rink, including a couple down from Queensland who were passing through on their tour around the country.
Thank you to Rob today for standing in for John, as John relaxes on a cruise.
Also thank you to Peter, Pauline, Vern, David, Jenny, Vicki and all the Lang Lang people who helped clear up both before and after play.
Today’s winners on 38 points were Peter Borradale (S), Rob Jeffries (3) and Frank Verco (L).
Runners up on 37 points were Rob Pretty (S), Peter McWilliams (3) and Peter Thorley (L).
Best One-Game winners on 25 points were Peter Gratton (S), Raff Merante (3) and Tony Morris (L).
It was good to see Marianne back behind the bar, who always has a friendly smile and enjoys lots of laughter.
A few more gold coins were added to our charity jar for the Royal Children’s Hospital appeal and we thank our players for their help with this collection.
This week we will meet up at Corinella to once again challenge our friends in combat.
Could everyone please be onsite by 10am to allow Peter time to prepare the teams.
