Peters prevails via countback

DROUIN GOLF

A rock-solid field of 126 players took to the Drouin Golf and Country Club to contest an individual Stableford event on Saturday.

A tie at the top in A Grade saw a countback needed to separate the top-two players on the leaderboard.

Brett Peters had a slightly better back nine to come out victorious over Bob Simpson, with both players scoring 38 points.

Jack McConville led B Grade with 39 points, while Cameron Snell came in runner up on a countback with 38 points.

In C Grade it was Ben Smith who came out on top with 42 points with Jamie Sparrow finishing runners up with 40 points.

The best score of the day came in D Grade, with Luke Smith scoring an impressive 44 points.

Damon Whaley was runner up with 42 points and Pete Downward claimed the Super Six prize with 17 points.

Down the lines went to Rod Gardner 40, Jarryd Leaworthy 39, Aden Quirk 39, Fred Allen 38, Craig Stevens 38, Stuart Whaley 38, Kelly Belcher 37, Dean Jones 37, Bill Toogood 37, Shane Dwyer 37, Pete Downward 37, Rod Whitehead 37, Matt Guy 36, Tony Piner 36, Zac Wright 36, George Shand 36 and Pete Daniel 36.

Target Hole winner was Shane Dwyer on the 11th Hole.

Nearest the pins went to 5th Brett McKeller (Commercial Hotel Warragul), 8th Danny Gorman (Sharkey’s Barbershop), 10th Grant Wilson (Siam Pesto Restaurant) and 14th Glenn Bayne (Pro Pin).

Stableford was the midweek competition last week.

Dave Johnson led A Grade, scoring 37 points, while Glen Roberts finished runner up, one point behind with 36.

In B Grade Roger Crow was the winner with 38 points, while Richard Emery was runner up with 37 points.

Finally in C Grade, John White topped the leaderboard with 38 points, two points clear of runner up Michael Herman with 36 points.

Winner of the Super Six was Richard Emery with 14 points.

Down the lines went to Richard De Jong 36, Ken Cooper 36, Rob Piner 35, Graham Austin 35, David Coombe 34, Marc Alberts 34, Paul Adamiak 34, Gavin Ratcliffe 34, Bob Naismith 34, Matthew Roberts 33 and Glenn Bayne 33.

Nearest the pins went to 5th Michael Herman, 8th Mick Lithgow, 10th Glenn Bayne and 14th Simon Appleby.

The Medley Stableford competition on Sunday was won by Ray Morgan who scored 40 points.

Upcoming competitions are Stableford; midweek, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

DROUIN LADIES

Drouin Ladies played a Two-Person Ambrose event on Tuesday 19 March in very hot and humid conditions.

The winners were Sharon Rippon (15) and Leanne Pollard (10) with 75 off the stick for a nett score of 68.75.

Runners up were Kay Feaver (13) and Marg Purcell (15) with 79 off the stick for a nett score of 72.

Down the line balls went to Mary Tymensen and Deb Daniel on 72.25 nett, and Sue Crosby and Meagan Ford also with nett 72.25.

Nearest the pins went to 5th Leanne Pollard, 8th (2nd Shot) Lorna Hoskins, 10th Ann Roberts and 14th Anne Neilson.

Saturday 23 March was an Individual Stableford event for the ladies and the winner was Marg Purcell (15) with 39 points.

Runner up was Helen Moon (26) with 33 points.

Monday Pennant Round 1 was played at Warragul on March 18.

Unfortunately Drouin had a 3-2 loss to the reigning Premiers, Churchill-Monash.

Next Tuesday is a Stroke event competing for the April Monthly Medal.

Tuesday 9 April is an Individual Stableford and Grandmother’s Trophy day.

The Eileen Smith 4BBB event will run over two rounds, April 16 and 23; partners are required.
