The clear frontrunners in the Ellinbank District Football League (EDFL) have all recorded comfortable wins on the weekend to create a healthy buffer on the rest of the competition.

Marc Holt snagged seven goals and his sidekick Mitch Davey was named best on ground in Lang Lang’s 27-point victory over Poowong.

Neerim South showed no mercy against Nilma Darnum, winning by 119 points, while Ellinbank pulled away late against Catani.

Forced to fight and scrap in a tense first three quarters, the Eagles led by just three points at three-quarter-time, before a five goal final quarter sealed the result.

Their ability to hold the Blues to just one goal after the main break proved decisive as Connor Wilkins, Michael Ablett and Makaio Haywood all played important hands in the victory.

At Buln Buln, the hosts took a 21-point lead into quarter time which set the tone for a comfortable 49 point victory despite Longwarry’s fight, led by Cooper Brown and Bailey Stephens.

Yarragon defeated Nyora by 61 points in the other game.
