Father and son combine for victory

DROUIN GOLF

A pair’s event was played at Drouin Golf and Country Club on Saturday; with the scores of both players being counted in a Stableford Aggregate.

With 60 pairs competing, it was a big field for the day.

Father and son combo Corey and Joel Thomson took out the win narrowly by one point, combining to score 73 points on the day, while the runners up prize went to Glenn Bayne and Phil Beruldsen with 72 points.

Third and fourth place were separated by a countback, with both pairs scoring 71 points.

Ben Kelleher and Peter Steer finished third, while Andrew Heagney and Jack Henning finished fourth.

The Super Six competition was won by Matt Guy with 16 points.

Down the lines went to Matt Long and Kevin Thorpe 70, Graham Austin and Eric Robbins 70, Luke Smith and Pete Smith 70, Dean Jones and Les Jones 70, James Wilcock and Daniel Butler 68, Bob Simpson and Fred Allen 67, Paul Timewell and David Sharpe 67 and Allan Logan and George Shand 67.

Nearest the pins went to 5th Chris Perry (Pro Pin), 8th Shaun Kleeven (Commercial Hotel), 10th Pete Morris (Sharkey’s Barbershop) and 14th Bryan Delaney.

Target Hole on the ninth went to Pete Morris.

Wednesday

Last week’s competition was Stableford with Mark Klaver winning A Grade with a score of 36 points, while Paul Barratt was runner up on a countback with 33 points.

In B Grade Tim Lawrence was the winner, scoring a very impressive 42 points, while Jake Barnard came in runners up on a countback with 35 points.

Tim Lawrence capped off a fantastic day also winning the Super Six with 15 points.

Down the lines went to Aaron Parsons 35, Eddy Van Der Plight 34, Peter Britchford 34, John Wolswinkel 33, Duart Perrin 33 and Basil Bate 33.

Nearest the pins went to 5th Mark Klaver, 8th John Wolswinkel, 10th Cameron Snell and 14th Graham English.

Sunday

The Stableford Medley on Sunday was won by Lyriq Bester with 41 points, while Dave Axford won a ball down the line with 37 points.

Upcoming competitions are Stableford tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday.

DROUIN LADIES

Drouin Ladies competition for June 11 was postponed until June 25, which will now be the Doris Chambers Stableford Foursomes event.

Saturday June 15 was an Individual Stableford event for the Ladies.

The winner was Michelle Fairlie (32) with 32 points and runner up was Vanessa Campbell (25) with 29 points.

This week is a Three-Person Ambrose event, while June 25 is the rescheduled Doris Chambers Stableford Foursomes.

These events are followed by the July Monthly Medal Stroke event on July 2.
