A MAN and woman are in a critical condition following a head-on collision on the Old Princes Highway in Officer this morning (Wednesday).

A 43-year-old woman from Berwick was trapped in her car for at least an hour while emergency crews worked to free her from the wreckage.

The woman and a 31-year-old Cranbourne man were both airlifted to The Alfred hospital shortly after the crash at 9.40am.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said a young boy around pre-school age had been taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.
The crash caused traffic chaos in Officer and surrounding areas until lunchtime on Wednesday.
