UPDATE

Garfield Primary School principal Michael Smith said the school went into lockdown yesterday as a precaution following reports of a man acting suspciously near the train station.

“A parent came in and said there was a potential problem, this man was acting suspicious,” he said.

“The station is across the road from the school, so it was more of a precaution than anything. The children were never in any danger.

“I’ve spoken to police at Warragul and Pakenham, they’ve investigated it and there was nothing to report.”
