MORE than 10 grams of ice and dangerous weapons were seized from a man in Pakenham earlier this week.
The 36-year-old man, who has been charged with drug trafficking, possessing drugs, illegal weapons and proceeds of crime, was spotted by a witness in Tyrell Place in Pakenham about midnight on Tuesday 13 January.
The witness claimed the man, driving a Holden Commodore, was behaving suspiciously and loitering in the residential area – which drew police to the area.
Senior Sergeant Nathan Prowd from Pakenham police said police were quick to intercept the man’s vehicle which revealed a high quantity of methamphetamines along with illegal weapons.
“The police member observed drug paraphernalia which led to a search where a significant quantity of amphetamine was found,” he said.
“A knife, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia was also found.”
The man was remanded in custody at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court. Snr Sgt Prowd said the man was seen by the court and has been further remanded.
Almost a week later, police charged a second man who was also found with several grams of ice.
The 28-year-old man, who was driving an unregistered vehicle, was pulled over by police along the Princes Highway in Pakenham at about midnight on Monday 19 January.
Police searched the vehicle and found three grams of amphetamines, a significant amount of cash, non-prescribed medication and drug paraphernalia, Snr Sgt Prowd said.
The man was charged with driving an unregistered vehicle, drug trafficking and proceeds to crime.
Snr Sgt Prowd said the seizures were a product of vigilant policing assisted by the community members.
“It was good work by the police member acting on the concerns of the member of the public,” he said.
