KOOWEERUP residents will receive more support both at home and in the community under recent Federal Government funding.
As part of the Home and Community Care Program (HACC), the government has allocated significant funding to the Kooweerup Regional Health Service.
The health service has received $19,445 funding for one-off capital works as well as $31,184 in recurrent funding.
A statement released by Federal Flinders MP Greg Hunt said the money would allow residents to stay in their own homes for longer.
“Older Australians deserve to have the support they need to lead active, healthy lives and to continue to stay in their own homes where possible,” it read.
“With an ageing population, we need to ensure our services are able to meet the growing demand.
“The HACC program provides invaluable support to our most vulnerable residents so it is fantastic to see this funding expanded.”
The funding is part of $21.3 million allocated to HACC in Victoria, expected to deliver an extra 200,000 hours of care to support people in their own homes.
Such assistance may include allied health care, personal care, meals and social support, property maintenance, nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and respite for carers.
