AN UPPER Beaconsfield teenager has been presented with the Queen’s Scout badge – the highest Scouting award for her age group.
Amy Humme of the 1st Upper Beaconsfield Scout Group received the badge at a ceremony attended by Cardinia Mayor Leticia Wilmot, immediate past chief commissioner Bob Taylor, Cardinia District commissioner Darren Spargo and Victorian State commissioner for Venturers Rod Byrne.
The award was presented by Upper Beaconsfield Venturer leader Rob Wilcox.
The Queen’s Scout award is presented after Scouts complete 300 hours of participation and assessment in programs of leadership, skills acquisition, personal development, vocational experience, outdoor challenges and expeditions, citizenship and community service. It is the highest award in the 14-17-year-old Venturer section of the Scout Movement programme, which caters and challenges boys and girls from age six to 25 years.
Amy is the youngest ever member of the 1st Upper Beaconsfield Scout Group to achieve the badge, after also receiving the highest award in the 10-14 Scout Section – the Australian Scout Medallion.
On Saturday 19 September, she will be presented with the Queen’s Scout Royal Certificate, signed by Her Majesty the Queen, by the Hon Linda Dessau AM at a ceremony at Government House.
