POLICE were called to a local junior football game at Toomuc Reserve in Pakenham after an alleged physical altercation involving parents on Sunday afternoon.
Two eight-year-olds allegedly became involved in a scuffle at the noon Under 8s junior football match on Sunday 22 May which resulted in parents becoming involved, according to police.
A witness, who did not wish to be named, told the Gazette the scuffle had been triggered by a “racist” remark exchanged between Pakenham and Beaconsfield players, which instigated a “physical altercation” between a parent and one of the players.
Police attended the grounds and spoke to witnesses.
A 32-year-old Mulgrave man assisted police with inquiries at the Pakenham police station soon after the incident.
AFL South East general manager Jeremy Bourke said the league would continue to liaise with Victoria Police to determine the facts in this matter and an appropriate course of action.
