Loaded firearm in parked car

A loaded firearm was tucked under a car seat late Saturday night, and a Pakenham man who was in the vehicle was arrested.
Pakenham police had been patrolling the Beaconsfield area when they came across the 26-year-old’s “suspicious“ vehicle parked near a vacant block of land on Monica Way about 10.30pm on Saturday 28 January.
There had been a woman with him inside the Mazda sedan as well as a third man squatting beside the car.
Police searched the car and found a loaded firearm under a seat and a large quantity of cash.
The male passenger was searched and police located a knuckle duster and a quantity of drugs, while the other man was found to also be in possession of drugs.
The female driver was on an outstanding warrant.
The 26-year-old Pakenham man was charged with drug-related offences and being in possession of a prohibited weapon, and the 25-year-old Berwick man was charged with drug- related offences and being in possession of an unregistered handgun.
The 24-year-old Pakenham woman was charged with driving-related offences.
The trio have been bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court in February.
